UNY Educational Technology Department Welcomes Visiting Professor from Fukuyama University, Japan

Yogyakarta – The Educational Technology Department of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) welcomed an academic visit from Prof. Kunihiko Kaneko of the Faculty of Engineering, Fukuyama University, Japan. This activity is part of an international collaboration program aimed at strengthening the capacity and insights of the academic community in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the field of education. Prof. Kaneko’s arrival was warmly received by lecturers, students, and researchers within the Educational Technology Department.

During his visit, Prof. Kaneko delivered a guest lecture titled “Building Personal AI Teacher Assistant,” discussing the development of AI-based teaching assistants that can be personalized to meet the individual needs of learners. He explained how AI technologies can be designed to understand each student’s learning style, comprehension pace, and personal preferences, enabling more effective and efficient guidance. His presentation offered a fresh perspective on the future of education that is increasingly adaptive and learner-centered in the digital era.

This activity is expected to open further research collaboration opportunities between UNY and Fukuyama University, particularly in the development of educational technology and the implementation of AI in learning. The Head of the Educational Technology Department stated that Prof. Kaneko’s visit greatly enriched academic discourse and encouraged innovation in the development of AI-based learning media and educational technologies. Moving forward, both institutions hope to establish lecturer and student exchange programs as well as joint research initiatives that can enhance the quality of education in Indonesia.
