Educational Technology Study Program UNY Welcomes MBKM Students from UNM

On Thursday, 21 September 2023, the Educational Technology Study Program of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) welcomed five MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka) students from the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program of Makassar State University (UNM). The event began with an opening by the MC, Mrs. Suyantiningsih, M.Ed., who serves as the Secretary of the Department of Curriculum and Educational Technology. This was followed by remarks from Dr. Cepi Safruddin Abdul Jabar, M.Pd., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni of the Faculty of Education and Psychology. He shared several points regarding the uniqueness of Yogyakarta as both an education city and a tourism city. He also emphasized that the students needed to adapt to their new environment, as this was their first time visiting Yogyakarta. Furthermore, he stated that while MBKM students are considered guests deserving of special hospitality, in terms of academic services they will receive equal rights without any discrimination.

After the remarks from Dr. Cepi Safruddin Abdul Jabar, M.Pd., the program continued with a welcoming speech from the Head of the Department of Curriculum and Educational Technology, Dr. Pujiriyanto, M.Pd. He noted that this was the second reception of MBKM students, following a previous period in which UNM’s Educational Technology students participated (two students at the time). This year, five PGSD students joined the program. He expressed his appreciation, highlighting that such exchanges foster multidisciplinary collaboration that strengthens both study programs. Dr. Pujiriyanto, M.Pd., also introduced the lecturers and educational staff of the Educational Technology Study Program. He expressed hope that some students might continue their studies in the Master of Instructional Technology program in the future.

Hamzah Paggara, S.Kom., M.Pd., a lecturer and MBKM coordinator for the PGSD Study Program, introduced the five MBKM students—three from the 3rd semester and two from the 5th semester. He also mentioned four alumni and lecturers from UNM who are currently pursuing further studies at UNY. He expressed his happiness and gratitude for the warm welcome, hoping that cooperation between the two institutions would continue in the future.
